    Herons offers a luxury dining experience to all our guests; we request that you dress appropriately for the dining room at dinner time. Jackets are requested, but not required. Ripped clothing, shorts, casual sandals, and athletic wear are not permitted.

Essence of Abstraction: Cynthia Knapp

An Artist's Reception

Cynthia Knapp will be joining us for an Artist Reception on January 22nd from 6-8 PM to celebrate the opening of her second exhibit which is currently featured in our Art Gallery.

A long time fixture in SAS' and The Umstead's permanent Art Collections, Cynthia makes a splash with her larger-than-life artworks. Her two murals, proudly on display in Herons Restaurant, infuse vibrancy into our culinary space. She is a full-time artist living and working in Atlanta, Georgia and has been joyously creating for over 40 years.

The works portray the essence of abstraction as seen in the physical environment. Paint and glaze are layered, added and removed, until the forms develop on the painted surface. Each is absolutely defined and dependent on the visual space that surrounds it.  All the elements of the painting: line, color, texture or translucence are enhanced by their surrounding absence existing as complementary players.
